Nippon Paint Asia Young Designer Award

Tips & Requirements

  • A2 Sized Presentation Boards

    • Min of 3 and max of 4 boards to be designed in vertical format
    • Board 1: existing site photos (if applicable), property/site developer (if applicable), floor plan, elevation, furniture layout plan & site analysis
    • Boards 2, 3 and/or 4: 3D perspectives with Nippon Paint colour chips and codes
    • For online and offline submissions, all A2 board designs must be saved in a folder named "Presentation Board" with the file name set as: 'Board 1'. Design statement must be included in your submission.
  • Photographs

    • Provide recent personal photo in JPEG format
    • All required image files: 300dpi & JPEG format ONLY
    • Individual perspectives: A4 sized (minimum) and must be save in a folder entitled “Perspective”. File name of JPEG shall be saved in a naming based format based on “areas”, e.g. Living Room or Lobby
    • The optimum size for your JPEG is 5 MB. Learn how to optimize the size here before submission.
  • Labelling

    • Label all areas of floor plan
    • Perspectives in Boards 2,3, and/or 4 must be in A3, A4, or A5 sizes and pasted on the A2 boards.

    • Entry Form must be attached as a cover page when submitting in a CD/DVD

    • Participants SHOULD NOT include their profile and education institution details on top of the presentation boards
  • Colours Used

    • The project must use colours from the Nippon Paint’s product range.
    • Download the colour chips from here. Clearly illustrate Nippon Paint’s colour names, colour codes and product ranges in your design.

Design Concept Statement

The predetermined format for your 1,000-word (maximum) design statement is to be submitted in word file or pdf file format respectively.


*8 Finalists will receive RM 200 respectively.

  • Participants must be enrolled in the interior design/architecture course of an educational institution.
  • Only one entry is allowed per student.
  • Entries must conform strictly to the submission guidelines and submitted to the contest coordinator of each school (For manual submission).
  • Final date of entry is 3rd October 2017, Tuesday.
  • All entries shall become the property of Nippon Paint Group of Companies.
  • Judges' decisions are final.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be notified to make an oral presentation as a final judging procurement.
  • Winners will be notified to attend a ceremony and winning entries may be featured in marketing and promoting materials as deemed appropriate by the organizer and sponsor.
  • Winners will bear ALL the expenses relating to their appearance at the launch, oral presentation and award ceremony.
  • Prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable for cash or credit.
  • The organisers reserve the right to substitute the top prizes with other products of similar retail value without prior notice.
  • Participating students must have international passports.
